Dan Robertson parkrun Challenger Cup
A fun, friendly competition where you and a club mate go head-to-head, racing to beat your handicap time by a larger percentage than your opponent.

Run at any parkrun, anywhere in the world.

In memory of our friend and clubmate Dan.
After years of suffering with PSC, Dan received a Liver Transplant in Feb 2023. His trademark resilience and determination inspired us all, and his ambition to win the inaugural Parkrun Cup was at the heart of his transplant recovery. Tragically Dan was diagnosed with terminal cancer just months later, and died in January 2024 before the Cup was completed.

The 2025/26 Dan Robertson parkrun Challenger Cup is Almost Here!

The first round of the parkrun cup kicks off on 27th September, and this time we're going full World Cup. The basic rules will remain the same, whereby you will go head-to-head to try and beat your handicap base time by a higher percentage than your opponent.

The big difference is that this year we are introducing a group stage. You'll be split into groups of up to four, and in the first three rounds, you'll face each of the other competitors in your group. How you do in the group stage will determine if you progress to the knockout stage and if you qualify for the A or B cup.

If you haven't already received it, you'll soon receive a link through the app as an announcement to a signup form. If you missed it, email me at the address in the FAQ's or send a message to Doug Rattray via the app and I'll send you a link.

To see how it works, I've put together a basic FAQ and a very dull but comprehensive rulebook.

The rounds will initially be four weeks long and drop to three weeks towards the end of the competition. You can find a calendar of the whole tournament here.

If reading all this is not your thing, there's a slightly weird AI generated audio podcast that goes through the basic's and almost gets everything correct.
